How NOT to raise yer kids

My sister in law is an idiot, not to mention extremely inconsiderate to,well just about everyone-this is clearly demonstrated in how she raises her kids.A couple years ago,she ran off with her boyfriend, and divorced her hubby, and basically has let her kids run wild.Well, anyway, once we hit town after I retired, she saw us as a VERY convenient baby sitting service-she even did a "drive by day care" on us-dropped off the kids, and could'nt even be bothered to get out of her van long enough to stop and visit with us.I told the wife that there will NOT be any more drivebys, sister or not.....and for the first 3 days we were in our house, and trying to dig out from under the mountain of household goods the movers dumped in our living room,we had her 11 year old monster-who is a budding sociapath.Well,my blood pressure was steadily heading toward the stratosphere with this kid.....she was eating us out of house and home, without benefit of even asking for anything-she would'nt leave anything alone, she was breaking things-my cup was getting full REAL quick. Then I started working in Green Bay,and I work graveyard shift-well,that entails SLEEPING before I go to work-well,aforementioned monster, being the little sociopath she is,could have cared less-making all kinds of noise while I was trying to sleep.Well, the other day, things finally reached critical mass-I had gotten home, after working all night-slept for a few hours, and then got up for awhile.Sure enough, here comes the 11 year old from hell-knocking on our door-for THIRTY minutes. When we did'nt answer, she called us every three minutes. She then started pounding and kicking our front door.FINALLy,she broke into our back porch, and walked into our kitchen-THATS when I exploded! What the FUCK is your problem?I'm trying to get some sleep! I work nights!Coming in someone's house in that manner can get you SHOT!(and I have looked down the barrel of a 12 guage at an intruder once)Well,at that point, she started bawling, and apologizing profusely-I was'nt impressed.I called her brother(a 17 year old kid,who is more mature and responsible than either parent),and told him he had to corral his sister,as I could'nt get any sleep.Well, now sis in law is all pissed off at us,because I had to actually enforce a few standards in MY house, with her kid,who she allows to do whatever she pleases.I don't care-the wife and I have had our fill of her acting like her kids can do anything they want, and we're supposed to just let it go.Nope-ain't happening-I WILL have peace and stability in MY house-and no 11 year old child will challenge that. And if her 40 year old mother, who acts ,oh,about 6 does'nt like it,then TFB

 Quote of the Day

Some people regard private enterprise as a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look on it as a cow they can milk. Not enough people see it as a healthy horse, pulling a sturdy wagon.

The boys are coming home today

Friday,November 10,2006,Clintonville Wisconsin-the men of Battery B,1st Battalion,120th Field Artillery,32nd Infantry Brigade,Wisconsin Army National Guard, are returning home from a year long deployment in Iraq. There'll be a parade on Main street this morning, and then a welcome home ceremony at the High School gym tonight-I'll be at both events,to meet these guys-I know plenty of them, having served as an NCO with the battery for 5 years, from 1992 to late 1996.They're MY boys as much as anyone elses in town, and I'm glad to see they've all returned home in one peice. The state of Wisconsin has lost 66 soldiers to combat in Iraq-fortunately all "my" guys made it home this time. These guys have continued a proud tradition of Wisconsin soldiers serving in combat dating back to the civil war-and especially a proud tradition of the 32nd "Red Arrow" infantry serving-they were the division that peirced the Hindenberg line on the western front in 1918-hence the arrow designation-and the first division sent into battle against the Japanese empire in WW2,where they displayed all sorts of heroics-the japanese soldiers were dumbfounded by these guys-the boats carrying their heavy weaponry-machine gus, mortars and light artillery had been sunk -they STILL attacked fortified enemy positions, armed only with light weapons-and prevailed. The 32nd earned more Medals of Honor than any other Division in WW2,and went on to soldier honorably in peacetime, and then were activated in 1961 for the Berlin crisis. Finally, they answered their nation's call in 2005 to go into battle again-this time their mission was more relaxed than some in the past-guarding logistics bases in Southern Iraq, where its not REAL dangerous-but they still served in the combat theater. These guys are heroes-ripped away from their civilian careers and their families to serve thousands of miles from home against a ruthless enemy-and not a single one of them had been drafted-(nor were any of the guys serving on the active duty side either,obviously)-these guys all volunteered for this, knowing EXACTLY what it entailed.Americans at their finest-and as a guy who has served both as an active duty soldier and as a guardsman,I'll tell you, these guys don't have it easy-it takes a lot of committment,to both serve as a guardsman AND have a civilian career-and try to balance all that out with their families-I'll tell you from first hand experience, its harder being a guardsman than an active duty soldier-regardless of all the "weekend warrior" jokes made about them.Oh,they're ONLY weekend warriors-they're not REAL soldiers./........well,I served as a guardsman for 9 years, and it said "US ARMY",not "National Guard" on my uniform.Anyway, just glad to see these guys coming home. Now I'll have to go flick boogers at the First Sergeant....

 Quote of the Day

Some people who do not like the idea of teachers being armed to protect students simply get indignant, or declare that armed teachers are inconsistent with a learning environment. I suggest that dead students — and the traumatic aftermath of a school attack — are far more inconsistent with a learning environment than is a math teacher having a concealed handgun on his body.”

Only a moral and virtuous people are capable of Freedom; the more corrupt and vicious a people becomes, the more it has need of Masters.”
