well,it was saturday,so time to go cash my check,and run some errands,before going in to work today(overtime all day )

well,I cashed my check at the grocery store and picked up a few things,then headed down to Fleet Farm-a chain of combination Hardware/Farm supply/sporting goods/building center stores here in Wisconsin,Minnesota and North Dakota,otherwise known as "the man's mall".I went there,to buy ONE item-an air filter for my car.Now,normally,I shop like a MAN-go DIRECTLY to the one item I went to the store to get,and check out.Not today.....bought some lumber,some 7.62 shells,a box of nails,some paint,some chainsaw oil,and checked out.got home and it was like DUH!!!!!!no air filter...must be slipping....

My oldest daughter,in the 7th grade,has been rated at being at an 11th grade reading level-along with advanced scores in other subjects.The local school has been flat out REFUSING to put her in the gifted program,as per REQUIRED under Wisconsin statute 118.35-!.Well,we've been fighting these clowns for months-finally,our cup was full-we called our state legislator,who is FIXING the problem.It should'nt have been required though.I'm just waiting to see how irate the school gets.Fuck them though-they work for us.

Well,I've been neglecting my blog lately(ok,I'll take the 40 lashes with a wet noodle from all of you like a man).anyway,heres some updates

A:the army-still waiting to see if I get recalled to active service or not-I'm only temporarily retired for one year,until october,pending final disposition of my case.I got a letter from Walter Reed last week advising me that I needed to make an appointment with Fort Knox to schedule my med re-evaluation.I talked to a gal down there(mexican name,kentucky accent-THATS a mix...),and they're telling me I'll probably get an appointment toward the end of summer,and we'll see what happens.would'nt break my heart to be a crusty old platoon sergeant again though......

B:the house-as mentioned,this house was new sometime in the Roosevelt administration(TEDDY that is...)or possible somewhat newer....needs a lot of work,but its coming along fairly well.We're stuck waiting on the weather to clear up so we can paint,and we're working on what we can,and its coming along.I've been starting to work on landscaping,and making progress-SLOWLY...we ripped down some back steps and a porch,that were pretty decrepit-looks much better now,but a LONG way to go.
Hopefully,by summer's end,the house will have come along much farther
